Danny Rice Bio

In 2018, Danny co-founded Rice Investment Group to invest in early-stage energy companies across oil & gas, low-carbon and energy technology which has borne industry leading companies Archaea Energy (landfill gas developer), Persefoni (carbon accounting platform) and ComboCurve (oil & gas forecasting analytics).

In 2020, Rice Investment Group formed a public equity strategy to acquire leading low-carbon energy companies through special purpose acquisition companies. In 2021, Rice Acquisition Corp I acquired landfill gas developers Archaea Energy and Aria Energy, creating the world’s leading landfill gas developer. In December 2022, bp acquired this platform for $4.1 billion in cash.

In December 2022, Rice Acquisition Corp II (NYSE: RONI), announced plans to merge with NET Power, which has developed a breakthrough technology utilizing oxy-combustion and super-critical CO2 to generate zero-emission power with natural gas. Upon closing of the merger, NET Power will become publicly listed on the NYSE under the ticker “NPWR” and Danny will become NET Power’s new CEO. As part of the NET Power acquisition, Danny and his family are investing $100 million into NET Power, which represents the Rice Family’s single largest investment ever. Utility-scale commercialization of NPWR is slated to begin in 2026 and the technology has the potential to fully decarbonize global power generation, which accounts for 40% of total global emissions.

Danny and his brothers are frequently profiled in Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine and other media outlets including CNBC. Danny was born & raised in Boston, Massachusetts and currently lives in Dallas, TX with his wife and their two daughters.
