Orlando Alvarez Bio

Orlando A. Alvarez is President and Chief Executive Officer of bp energy Company based in Houston, Texas. He is also a member of the bp America Board, which oversees all the company’s activities in the U.S. Orlando’s tenure at bp spans over 25 years with current accountability for all of North America’s and Brazil’s trading, marketing, supply and derivatives activities, specifically pertaining to natural gas, power, and natural gas liquids. Orlando is a member of bp’s global trading and supply’s executive leadership team. He serves on several industry boards and committees, including the Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA) board, and the Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) board. Orlando is also a board member of the Building Conservation Trust (BCT) which is the national habitat program of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) as well as a board member of the Houston chapter of the American Heart Association (AHA). During his 33-year span in the energy supply and trading business, Orlando has held many commercial positions ranging from natural gas trading, marketing and origination, and transportation representative. Early on in his career he held accounting and reporting positions, all in the natural gas industry. He also spent three years in the natural gas liquids space where he was responsible for commercial delivery across several gas processing and fractionation facilities on the Gulf Coast. Orlando was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, and came to the United States at the age of three, where he lived in New York until his move to Texas in 1975. He currently resides in Houston with his wife Kari, his children, Alexis, 26, and Brandon, 24, as well as his step-children Justin, 29, and Brady, 24. Orlando attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. He enjoys hunting and fishing with his family during his time off.
