9:45 AM | Opening Keynote Address: Southeast Natural Gas Infrastructure - Past, Present and Future
Click here for details.Natural gas demand in the Southeast region is on the rise, drawing attention from suppliers in many of the nation's largest production areas. How this new demand will be supplied, and from where, is becoming more complex all the time as infrastructure adapts to emerging new shale formations such as the Marcellus. This presentation will explore changes in natural gas infrastructure - past, present and future - and offer some fresh perspectives on critical factors impacting the Southeast natural gas market.

11:00 AM | The Future of Natural Gas: A State Regulator’s Perspective
Click here for details. As dependence on natural gas in the Southeast increases, regulators are faced with many difficult issues. The growth of gas production coupled with tougher federal regulations on coal pushes the market toward an increased use of natural gas. Although an increased use of natural gas is beneficial on many levels, a growing dependence on a single fuel source creates unique questions from a regulatory perspective. This presentation will focus on the unique concerns presented to regulators such as dealing with price fluctuations, ensuring long-term reliability and diversity, and regulating under state law with overhanging federal regulations.

"Hedging for Budgetary Success" will demonstrate to attendees how to communicate to supervisors (PUCs, Board of Directors and rate payers) why hedging is prudent and/or necessary. Attendees will be introduced to a statistical approach developed by the instructor that quantifies the cost/benefit of hedging. They will be exposed to analytical tools that quantify risk in budgetary terms. These tools are used by more than 35 firms, managing more than $65 billion in cash flows, to communicate and document their rationale for hedging.

9:45 AM | Keynote Address: Shale Gas Unbound - Less Gluts, More Glory
Click here for details.Eighteen months ago, conventional wisdom doubted that the U.S. shale gas boom would be converted into substantial LNG exports. This view has reversed so sharply that U.S. shale gas is now embraced as a cure-all for the world’s economic and geopolitical ills…even when molecules cannot actually get from Point A to Point B. This presentation will show where logistical and policy walls in U.S. gas and oil are “a-tumblin’ down” and what it means for our world and your business.
